Demonstration Project: 264 Calle San Sebastian

Our first TECRE demonstration project was a micro-grid designed as a final project for Northeastern students taking Energy Systems (ENSY 5300) in Spring 2019. The system was installed by two Northeastern students along with a Puerto Rican master electrician. TECRE aims to install additional monitored sites to benefit end-users as well as educational institutions advancing the TECRE mission.

The system is a 240 VAC photovoltaic-battery system using two 120 VAC inverters/converters in series. The MATE3 microprocessor maintains the two inverters 180 degrees out of phase for 240 VAC output. The 2 kW system has a 14.8 kWh battery storage system.

The MATE3 monitoring system enables control and observation of the PV-battery plant 24 hrs/day. Please read the information below to monitor the current system performance yourself! The images below show the energy distribution for a full-size refrigerator and single air conditioning unit for 24 hours.
